Let's start with a definition of catalog from the Encarta Dictionary:

• commerce, a list of goods for sale, with prices and illustrations, presented in book form, printed magazine form or sometimes in other formats including CD-ROM or video, and often used for mail order.

Simple enough, so where can we go wrong with this?

By thinking that it stops there!

Producing a catalog is only the beginning, it must be promoted, heralded, given away, and sold all at the same time.

A catalog is only the list, but you have to have someone read it, respect it, and be able to purchase from it!

Your coordinated promotional efforts must be directed at getting the catalog known, making the catalog useful and making it functional.
